I’m switching hosts, our new host (pressable.com) doesn’t run server side crons, one recommendation they give is to trigger wp-cron.php using an uptime monitoring tool like uptime robot, say every 15 minutes.
My question however is what’s the actual reality of server side cron vs wordpress based ones? I know that some plugins don’t work with server side crons, I know that some people recommend disabling wp-cron and running it only on the server while others say it’s really not such a big issue, wordpress themselves recommend this:
I think I will be fine when it comes to performance but what’s the true reality of it? Thanks!
