Tried to make a blog post today, first time in a few weeks. Took ages to upload images, couldn’t use any version of bulk loader, had to load one at a time. Tried to put an image block in the post & all I get is a generic image of a mountain saying “insert image for visual message” or something like that. It’s not showing my media gallery at all. I re-installed wp, turned off & on all plugins. All my OS & plugins are up to date. Spent over an hour on chat w hostgator, someone said they wanted to check something & would be back in 2-3 minutes. Ended up an hour later them saying they wanted my phone # & someone would call in 24 hours. I had a deadline this morning. Unrealistic they’ll call on the weekend. Any ideas how to fix?

Resave your permalink structure.
If you add an image block, it just gives the option to go to media library. Anything else is caused by a theme/page-builder or other custom set-up.
What theme are you using? Why couldn’t you bulk upload? Not showing media gallery – so what is it showing. Often its as simple as clicking the media gallery tab (as it can default to ‘upload’ tab).
A screenshot or two would help us understand.
