WordPress .org vs .com I’m having trouble with both?

[ad_1]

I am working on my uncle’s website. He created a WordPress account in the early 2000s.

Because of this I’m assuming he was “grandfathered in” and doesn’t pay the newer fees associated with WP.

He has his own specific link in order to log in. I can’t log in from either .org or .com, independently.

Does anyone know how to get around this? I can’t ask for support unless I login to the pop up link which I can’t do because he only has his independent login link.

  1. Add /wp-admin/ at the end of the website to login to the website.

    Exmaple.com/wp-admin/

And If you’re trying to log into the WPcom account, click the login on the website and just reset the password for the account.

  2. If he doesn’t pay for hosting, he’s probably on WordPress.com which is not WordPress.org and the folks at org won’t be much help.

If you log in through his link, you should be able to navigate to the.com help area. I think. Doesn’t mean you’ll get much help if you are on an old free plan.

If he does pay for hosting, then you just need to figure out what email he used to pay for it, log in and hopefully if they are a good host, they’ll help. Not always, though. Especially if your problem is with WordPress rather than the server.

Good luck. Old sites can be an adventure to get control of.
