WordPress Recommendations | WordPress.org

I have just created a WordPress account and have been plied with recommended themes and plugins.

There seems to be some confusion here.

Where did you create the “WordPress account” and where do you see these “recommended themes and plugins”?

Note that WordPress.org (where you are now) only builds and supports the 100% free and open-source WordPress software and does not host any user websites. You use a 3rd-party hosting service to host your WordPress website.

And the WordPress software does not push any “recommended” themes or plugins.

My guess is… it’s your host, the place you went to crate your “WordPress account”, that’s pushing these “recommended themes and plugins” to you, and not WordPress.

Thanks for your reply, George.

So, the host company I use (SiteGround) have access to the WP dashboard I use? (Because this is where the recommended themes are shown, after I select Themes under the Appearance category from the menu in the left hand tool bar.)

I was under the impression that Siteground would host my website, but thought that the WP site builder was a totally different entity, and that I would have sole control over it.

The recommended themes are not on the SiteGround website, but on the WP dashboard.

Where on the dashboard do you see this? Can you posta screen shot?

I can’t see an option here to post an image of a screenshot.
Where is the function?

Put your image on imgur.com (free) and then paste a link to that here.

Actually, I think the themes visible have been placed there by SiteGround, the company that hosts my site.
