I started using wordpress maybe two weeks ago and since then i m trying to learn how to use it with a commercial perspective in mind.
And i find myself pretty much overwhelmed on multiple aspects.

I have programing knowledge, no software designing skill (photoshop, figma…) and originaly planned to use wordpress mainly for crafting e commerce websites as it is time consumming, complicated to create from scratch on my own and finally not necessary targeted for the client budget i m looking for.
​
And the vast majority of ecommerce websites i checked are all using CMS solutions (prestashop, shopify and wordpress with woocommerce and elementor). So why would i bother ?

In the begining, i thought that the coding skill wasn’t mandatory as many solutions existed. It consisted mainly on choosing and learning how to use few solutions. It was something that i thought the vast majority of agencies were doing.

It is not entierly false but i rapidly found out that almost everything is “pay to win”, from the theme to the plugins and the templates.
You want a login functionality ? Put it there and its down. Do not care about the rest (database, …). You can nest different free plugins functionalities to try to correct what were paid features. But creating a real labyrinth as a result.
​
To alleviate this aspect, you have to know how to make things on your own with your programing skill and the help of closely selected solutions (which are ?).
​
I don’t really have a roadmap to master one way or the other. For the moment, i’m at the point of only using free stuff : oceanwp, storefront, elementor, woocommerce and other plugins to complete the free solution to add megamenu for example (ocean extra, …)… And some added JS and CSS to somewhat customize a bit the theme.
​
Would appreciate some help to adress my concerns and more as the subject is very knew.
What would be your roadmap? And what would you use to do this.
