Would you buy “VIP CARE” when renewing a theme ?

[ad_1]

Basically, Its time to renew my theme for the year. They have an option of paying an additional $79 dollars for the year to get routed for Premium support and response.
Is it worth it ?
I am good with WordPress, I have used it now for several years and I think I know what I am doing, In addition, I don’t anticipate to be building that many new websites in 2024 because I am working on a selected few large projects that are currently under way.

Does it make sense to buy this Premium support ? Where if you are stuck on something, you get routed to the top of the line ?

  1. Entirely up to you if you think it will be needed. Make sure it covers all usage, not just each license if that is what you will use it for.

  2. Is the support responsive in a timely time frame, with or without the extra $$$? Do you need it, i. e., you can’t code for your life? Your call really.

  3. You’ve had the theme at least a year now, so how many times have you used their support in that period? Once your site is built, I can’t imagine you interacting with the theme developers very often, since things should already be known to work. And if I _WAS_ having to constantly ask the developer questions, it wouldn’t be a very good theme.

Honestly, most of the time the premium plans are just ways for theme developers to upsell you.

  4. What u/elspic says. Basically if you haven’t used premium support this year chances are *very* slim that you’ll need it next year.

Also, if for some reason you did need it in the future, theme factories almost always let you “renew” premium support

  5. I think its totally worth it depending on what your using the theme for. For example, if you are an agency, or the website is super critical.

But if it just for a basic brochure website, then its a luxury you may not need.

  6. Doesn’t renewing the license come with support? If so, how often have you had to use support that comes with the license? If it gives you additional peace of mind, and it’s a write-off for your business, than it wouldn’t hurt. But, based on the answers to my first 2 questions, is it actually worth it?

  7. You really just want the updates so you can assume it’s secure.

Most of the time I’ve had to solve the problem for the theme/plugin devs. So I’m not a fan of support, especially outside the US since it usually means emails outside of my business hours.
