Would you use an LMS or let your web designer make one with a bunch of plug-ins?

I am researching LMSs for my art classes. I don't want to pay more than $200-300 per year. So big names like Mighty Networks are out. I like Thrive, Member Mouse, MasterStudy, LearnDash and a few others.

My goal is to have on-line videos and passive income. I can be actively involved, so Zoom capabilities from the website are needed. As well as integrations of SM, mailing lists, & memberships.

My web designer feels sure we can create something from scratch with plug-ins, but I am reluctant to be on the learning curve when "the wheel" has already been invented.

TIA for all thoughts and suggestions.

  1. $200-300 per year will be way cheaper than building something from scratch and having a dev around to tweak and add new features.

  2. $200 – $300 per year for an online training system? I don’t believe you’ve thought this through – online training is a very complex application- I don’t even know where to start, but some LMS are $120,000 per year
