I currently have a WP maintenance plan and although the company make it so easy that I never worry about the backend, its getting a bit pricey for a small blog like mine. I'm comfortable with most tech, and would like to save the money and just do some of the regular maintenance myself and if something does break and I can't fix it, I can always hire help. I was considering subscribing to a site protect plan that includes, malware scanning, firewall and daily backups, which is ALOT less expensive than what I currently pay for. Also if I needed help restoring in the event of a catastrophic crash, my host would help. I know there must be something important I'm not thinking of, so any guidance and input would be appreciated. Also, anything I should be aware of with SSL certificate renewals?
TIA 🙂
How much are you paying currently and you want someone to maintain your site on monthly basis?
Setup a backup system that backs up to a remote server (e.g. S3, Dropbox, G Drive), install Wordfence and keep everything up to date at all times.
SSL should be managed by Let’s Encrypt automatically + perpetually. If you’re paying for SSL you’re getting ripped off.
