I have a media and news website that has grown over the years to its current stats of 400k users and 1.5M page views per month. We did this using Newspaper+tagdiv, so the website is pretty slow and scores E on GTmetrix and takes 8 seconds to load on average (there are 5 ads on each page via Google Ad Manager). Got a lot of feedback about the tagdiv+newspaper combo being bloated.
Our only upgrade for hosting is to go VPS but not sure if that will really help, as the previous hosting upgrade did very little.
I’ve read a lot of good about Jnews+elementor and bimber+elementor but also warnings about too many DOMs.
Any comments on either of these elementor based combo (we already have an early bird license to it), versus getting a theme custom made?

Pay an experienced WP developer to build you a fast, custom site.
Putting your current site on good quality hosting will probably help though (e.g. more RAM, not shared).
