Clearly I missed the 2023 update…
I’ve made multiple wordpress sites in the past – albeit very simple portfolio sites.
But I had a decent grasp of it.
I’m going to a conference this weekend and wanted to create a very simple landing page to collect some emails.
I knocked up a simple wireframe and some images in Canva and thought it would just be a case of dragging and dropping a few elements on WordPress and then job done.
Three hours later and I’m ready to throw my laptop out the window.
Clearly Elementor and other builders just aren’t a thing anymore with the WP editor??
Am I just being useless? This feels like an awful update.

Elementor and Page Builders are very much still a thing.
If you clearly describe your frustrations maybe you can get better help.
For starters
– Install Elementor
– Install Hello Elementor Theme
– Build your email collecting landing page
Based on limited this should be enough to accomplish what you want.
WordPress has turned in to shareware. It’s almost like a Vegas street where the people are flicking discount cards at you.
Your situation depends on hosting. Did it asked come configured or do you need to install a bunch of things.
Elementor is never the way, always a better solution than that.
WP has moved on to a block based editor now. Easier for Normies to use but it def took me some getting used to.
Was much slower out the gate getting used to it and would often take me 3-4x as long to make something than before when it was more technical.
Personally, i hate the block editor and install the classic editor.
Just install seedprod coming soon and maintenance and create a simple landing page if that’s all you need.
Check out AstroJS if you can have static sites, I’ve never looked back
I don’t know about that, but I create the most complicated websites ever using Elementor Pro.
Sometimes I develop my own plugins, but I’m not facing any issues so far.
Just install Timber and code away. They shoulda made it core a long time ago along with ACF.
Although I love a good rant, I feel like what happened here is you took a wrong turn somewhere and now you believe it is WordPress’ fault.
It is still very much possible to make a simple landing page with Elementor.
