Anyone know of a good Table of Contents plugin?

I write multi-chapter stories in WordPress, and after awhile, they get so long that scrolling down to specific chapters becomes tedious.

All I want to do is auto-generate a simple TOC like you can do in Word and Google docs, but every plugin I’ve tried is overwrought and does not work *while* I’m editing.

Anyone know of a good plugin?
