Are these real followers?

Basically, I’ve started posting on my site about a year after I stopped and now I’ve been getting a few follows by some well to do blogs and likes, not like before. I’m just wondering if these people just want me to engage with their blogs too and then they unfollow. Is that a common thing on WordPress?
