Best WP book for learning core system

I mentioned in an earlier comment on a related post that I am proficient in most of the tools used to develop for WordPress (or at least functional in the case of JS) – what I am missing is the deep knowledge of WP itself. I know most seasoned professionals likely would not need to read books on the subject – after all you are seasoned, but I am hoping for some good recommendations for books that are above beginner level. I already know how to install the system, use plugins and work with the full site editor. I want something that discusses how to write snippets to overcome WP issues, customize without using plugins and exploit the power of WP as an expert. Thanks in advance.
