Cloudways bot protection and malware protection

I had to turn off cloudways bot protection to install wordfence free because something about having bot protection on in cloudways was not allowing wordfence to “optimize”, and cloudways support told me to turn off bot protection.

I also do not have malware protection purchased through cloudways.

I feel like since I have turned off bot protection in cloudways, my wordpress website has been slow to respond when im making edits etc. Anyone experience the same?

Does wordfence free offer bot protection/malware protection? If so I assume its at application level. Do I need to have bot protection on in cloudways and should I purchase malware protection through cloudways too?
