  1. Just make sure you’re on .org and pick your host wisely. Probably not a great time to go with WPE.

(No hate to WPE but I’d hate to have my projects tangled up in this mess)

  2. Matt is a tiny man. He is jealous of all the money WPEngine is making. He wants some of that. He has started a war with them. I think that sums it up.

  3. Okay, so imagine there’s a big toy everyone loves to play with, called WordPress. Matt is one of the people who helped build it, and WP Engine is like a friend who helps take care of the toy by giving people a special place to play with it.

Now, Matt and WP Engine are fighting. WP Engine says Matt said some really mean things about them, and they’re upset. Matt wanted WP Engine to give him money, and when they didn’t, he got mad and said some hurtful things about them to others. WP Engine is saying, “That’s not fair! You’re making us look bad!” So now they’re both saying mean things and have gone to a big person (a court) to help them figure it out.

But don’t worry, this fight won’t stop you from playing with WordPress. It’s still there for you to use! They’re just arguing over how they work together

  4. If you’re just starting out, you can continue using WordPress as usual. The platform itself is still functional, and most of the tools and themes you rely on will still work.

  5. Everything is the same

Our business and thousands of other business are hosting thousands of expensive client sites with org and none of them have had any impact.

Wp org (wordpress) is not impacted in anyway. Only one host (Wp engine) is impacted. And there are 100s or thousands of hosts you can choose from. A lot of them a lot better than Wp engine . You can also choose to run your own host setup with a vps or simply go with another hosting company that’s not Wp engine and you’ll be fine

Don’t worry much about the noise

  6. I seriously was shocked at the prices on WPE. I can ramp up a full VM with a WordPress image and LiteSpeed for less than a third of their base monthly fee.
And then their next tier is $568 a month for WordPress! Wow, just wow.
How can this be seen as a good deal? Are they so far ahead in security and CDNs etc that it’s really worth it? Doesnt seem like it to me. I needa charge more!

  7. Unless you’re using WP Engine to host your website – not at all.

If you are, you’ll have to do some annoying manual file uploads to update your site until they grow up and sort it out.
