I’m currently working with a client on adding an alternative to Google Sheets on there WordPress site. While numerous plugins boast appealing aesthetics, the real challenge lies in finding one that replicates the comprehensive functionality of Google Sheets. This includes features like version history, live editing, and indicators to show where other users are making edits.
I’ve already showcased plugins like TablePress and wpDataTables, both of which I’ve used in the past. Unfortunately, none seem to meet my client’s standards.
Before I start writing an email about the feasibility of replicating Google Sheets within WordPress, I’m reaching out to see if there might be any solutions out there that encompass all the features of Google Sheets. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
How did you get a client to have you try to recreate Google Sheets in WordPress for them? Seriously.
usually when a client asks for a stupid thing like this, it is better to ask them what problem they are trying to solve instead of asking what they want
google sheets was created probably by thousands of engineers with a laser focus on being a spreadsheet application, and essentially unlimited funding and unlimited capacity to accept scope creep. there is no reason to try and build a bootleg version of it using wordpress as a back end
