Hi guys, i want to create a simple blog with wordpress.
I come from a front-end framework background like react, and creating my own CMS is a huge task. So I’m thinking to use an already established CMS like wordpress.
The first thing that i do is to read the official documentation and i stumbled upon this [Official theme development handbook](https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/). From the handbook, i see that there are two ways of developing theme with wordpress. The old ways is by using PHP.
You see, most of the guide or content that i see accross the internet is using PHP, so i guess it’s the old ways of doing things. It’s given that i want to follow the most up-to-date ways, but the handbook is confusing me even more.
I’ve read the first few section of the theme handbook but all it talks is only about files and folders. Like, what this files does, etc. I don’t see a thing about creating a theme from scratch or anything.
Yes, there are a few code example here and there, but i find it hard to glue it all together in order to make a new wordpress theme from scratch.
I see that this handbook is written for developer in mind with a bit of code here and there. But i find it hard to believe someone can learn how to create theme from scratch by reading all of that.
Is it just me or is there any other official guide to learn theme development from scratch for developers ? Am i being dumb or is any wordpress-related knowledge is a prerequisite to learn it ?
Any advice will be a huge helps. Thank you beforehand
