I changed themes and my whole site got deleted?

[ad_1]

I’m low-key having a panic attack because I don’t know how to restore all my pages and media that got deleted. Please help.

I was trying to fix my theme because the one I was using wasn’t working the way I wanted it to, so I was trying to find a theme that worked. When previewing the theme said,, “this will delete all content, are you sure you want to continue?” I didn’t think it was literally going to delete my whole website.

Am I completely screwed? I didn’t explicitly go out of my way to back anything up afaik. I thought wordpress saved previous versions or something. I didn’t think it was possible for all my work to be erased with one button with literally no trace of a previous version anywhere. Obviously, I have no idea what I’m doing – I just use my website to post writing and art. Kind of urgent. I don’t know website building jargon so please ELI5.

  1. Have you tried re-activating your previous theme?

Sometimes when you activate a new theme, t doesn’t show content in the same manner as the previous one, due to differences in settings/ coding .. etc.

But when you go back to using the previous theme, it should show all the content same as it was being displayed previously.

I’m here to help, and I will stick around to hear again from you. You are welcomed to PM also.
