My friends just bought a company and want me to changes some text on his new company’s website.
Wordpress is used but not like “normal use”. For exemple there is no menu, no post, etc.
I just found out that everything is written down, like entire html page in the template files. In the template folder there’s about 300 hundred php pages. So if I want to update the menu or the footer I need to update it on all the pages…
It’s the first time I see something like that, usually template are not used like that… (thanks god), and I don’t know what is the benefit of using wordpress…
Do you know if I missing something ? Maybe I need an extension or a tool ?

Start from scratch, do it properly for them and explain the person who made it did not follow normal standard methods.
Sounds like whoever made the site is fucking useless.
You’ll be better off starting from scratch and charging them for a brand new website.
Sounds like whoever built the website didn’t know how to use WordPress. I see this a lot – things usually get hard coded when the developers don’t know how to do it any other way. It really sucks, especially if it’s something SO simple like the menus or basic functionality.
I agree with the other commenters and I think the site should be redone from scratch the right way.
I smell a full build in your future
