I want to make a website that can handle payments/registrations, show sports team standings in a league, rosters, schedule etc. I don’t have much coding experience. I’ve been leaning towards WordPress with some specific plugins so we have more flexibility than a more premade “sports team” type site builder but not sure. Any thoughts would be helpful!

Do you intend to manually add all the data? If yes then you need to learn a lot about web and wordpress if not then you need to learn about api and wordpress customisation. The idea is certainly doable in WordPress though complex.
