Looking for super basic parent theme – any suggestions?

[ad_1]

Hey folks, I mostly use WPBakery to build out static page content, so I'm looking for a theme (paid or free) that is super basic: a responsive menu, simple Post/Archive styles, and a footer. I plan to customize those out-of-the-box styles to my liking, and then everything else will be handled by WPBakery.

I'm comfortable with customizing child themes, so I'm not terribly worried about needing some fancy frontend editor to configure the menu styles or anything like that.

Does anyone have suggestions for this kind of theme? I've heard Genesis might be a solid option, but looking for others, too. Cheers!

  1. You have the answer buried into your question. WP default 2024/2025 or whichever is latest are the best source of parent theme. They are packed with all features.

Some alternate can be astra bit if you building everything on your own. Go with default WP one. That way you are not reliant of any updates from 3rd party.
