Newbie needing help with Autoloaded options affecting performance

[ad_1]

Hey all,

A critical issue is noted in my site health, which states "Autoloaded options could affect performance." My site is pretty slow to load right now too.

This is my first site and I barely understand what this means, let alone know how to resolve it!

Is there an easy way to tell what should be deleted and what shouldn't? Some automatic way that means I can't screw anything up?

I've downloaded AAA Option Optimizer but really don't know what I'm looking at.

I realise it is a question that's been asked before but a little extra advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, all.

  1. There is no easy way, but AAA does tell you which autoloaded options are not being used. It’s not 100% accurate, so be careful. Sort the entries by size and review the biggest ones to see if they are still valid. For example if you see a plugin name (or initials) in the entry that you no longer use, you can go ahead and disable or delete that entry. Backup your database before you make any changes.

Your site’s performance woes could be due to other reasons. Generally speaking you want to use a good web host (with fast cpu, memory, storage, and network), full page caching, persistent object caching, optimized images, compression of static assets, etc. You should also avoid bloated plugins, theme, and page builders if possible.

A plugin like Query Monitor will tell you which plugins are slowing down your site by making more database calls.
