Non-WP site receiving WP-targeting bot attack

[ad_1]

I have a website that I made myself and recently it started getting a ton of requests by bots that seem to be looking for WordPress vulnerabilities to exploit. My site is not using WP, so I’m not worried about it getting hacked. But my traffic has gone up exponentially over the past month because of this crap. How can I make the bot infestation go away?

The hits appear to come from all over the world, different IPs each time hammering my site with requests, so blocking individual IPs wouldn’t make a difference.

Should I just wait it out? Will they stop eventually since they must be getting 404s to all their requests? None of the stuff they are looking for exists at my site.
