Not sure how to get a very minimal theme going for wordpress or how to customize to make it minimal throughout my pages.

I’ve dabbled with wordpress a bunch in the past and have given up, but I’m trying again to make my websites work.

I want the most barebones kind of design. An image banner on top. A side(or top) bar with links(categories that expand is a plus).

I also hate how the title of the page has to be displayed in text. I don’t see how I can remove it. I also can’t seem to get the title of the site to be removed from every page. (I just want it to be represented by image). I also don’t see how to change the colors of the text boxes, text, or change the fonts or background images. It’s kinda frustrating.
