Plugin on auto-update?

[ad_1]

Hi everyone! As the title suggest, is it okay to put the plugins on auto-update or it is better done manually while making sure the site is backed up. The plugins I have are blocksy, Elementor a ssl and a seo .What would be the pros and cons of doing so

  1. Pros of Automatic Updates:

Security updates are applied ASAP, keeping your site safe in cases where a plugin exploit is found.

    Cons of Automatic Updates:

A failed update can lead to your site getting stuck in maintenance mode or otherwise offline, or can lead to a broken plugin update getting automatically pushed to your site that breaks functionality with no warning to you.

Really there are benefits and drawbacks to both approaches. You will want to weigh the potential for a security exploit that could compromise your site from an out of date plugin vs the potential for something breaking or causing downtime from an automatic update.

  2. A recent plug-in auto update broke part of my website, I have switched to manually updating after insuring that I have a good backup. It only takes a few extra minutes and I was usually performing the updates manually anyways before the scheduled time.

  3. I use auto update, but also take weekly backups and login at least 4-5x a week to check the site.
