It seems there is a fatal javascript error in the modern-events-calendar-lite plugin that is causing a fatal javascript error on the page that is breaking any script that runs afterward, not to run, including the script for the template.
The solution is to either deactivate that plugin or somehow prevent their scripts from loading on pages where that plugin is not in use.
