TLDR: My site is slow but I’m not sure why :<
My blog site is minimal with almost no content yet but load time is extremely slow (\~ up to 10 seconds).
* Set-up: Dreamhost shared hosting + Kadence theme. Plugins: Autoptimize, WP Super Cache, Google Site Kit and wpDiscuz.
* Page size is \~250kb. Pagespeed / Pingdom scores are also high \~90.
I think this is due to Dreamhost (I’m in South East Asia and their server is in the U.S) but want to make sure before paying for a new host with servers nearby.
Is there any other potential cause?

Without website URL its difficult to say that for sure but i guess its related to hosting and/or caching. You don’t need to change the hosting, instead you could use a CDN. Cloudflare free plan should be enough, with Super Page Cache plugin you can also setup full page caching. This should fix the slow page speed you’re having.
Anyway if you share your website URL i could check it better and tell you for sure whats the issue
