try to revise your .htaccess file
(you can even remove it) and regenerate a new one

is some sort of 404,
a broken .htaccess file does break any permalinks for the site, only the main page can be opened, anything else goes 404
Why this has happened?
1. someone edited and broke .htaccess
2. viruses/malware, see the above comment by Alan on what to do
3. broken plugin attempted to edit it and insert some rules
