dear Community i run a freshly installed wordpress with only a very few plugins
on a regular base i update all these plugins – also the askimet . but wait: see what i have gotten when i try to do so:
There is a new version of Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection available. View version 5.3.2 details or update now.
Well – i get an error response – that says: the old plugin could not be removed.
Why is this so – what did i do wrong here!?
btw: it does not play any role weather the plugin is activated or not – i cannot update this
btw_: on a sidenote_: i do not use this – i never used askimet – so the question could also be like this:
what about the general removal of this thing – do i have to use this in the setup or not!?`
can ´t i get ridd of this – if i do not need this /(in general)

Who are you using for hosting? Akismet may be a forced plugin and automatically updated by them.
you can deactivate and delete the plugin, or delete it in the plugins folder through file manager.
