I spent many years in an industry that sells products that almost all businesses need. It is fairly complex to navigate and rife with “secret” insider knowledge that makes it more difficult for businesses to understand what they are getting for their $ and makes it difficult to compare and see parity across competitive quotes for similar products. I am thinking about creating a website to provide some knowledge and information to help educate buyers so that they can make accurate comparisons and potentially save thousands of dollars in the process. I plan to write weekly blogs and post to social and the site and will continuously update the content.
In looking at the site, I think that I may have 2 potential ways to monetize it.
1) I plan to provide much of the information for free as proof of value/expertise, but I think that some buyers may be willing to pay for some of it as it pertains to pricing and negotiation which could potentially save them thousands of dollars (depending on the size of their business).
2) I also think that connecting potential buyers with reputable sellers (and having the sellers pay for that “hot” lead) is another potential avenue. If someone is actively looking at the site and willing to fill out a form with some details to be connected with a vendor, that would indicate that they are interested in buying and will have some value for the vendor. When I was in the business, we would have paid for validated leads, and I have paid for them in other industries in a 1st come, 1st serve manner.
I have some experience with WP, but it’s been a minute. This would be a side gig and I would like to buy a theme, ad some plug-ins and go. I am looking for something that I can put some content in public view and some behind a login paywall for business buyers. I would also like a way to create a qty 1 inventory for the lead and send a link to the lead to potential vendors in the zip code of the buyer. Initially, I am willing to manually make the match between buyer and seller and send that email, but the site would need to be able to handle the transaction from the product vendor who would log in to a different part of the site vs. the content buyers.

Any recommendations/advice/guidance would be appreciated.
