Our desktop lighthouse score went from 87/100 to 68, and our mobile lighthouse speed score fell from 51 to 29.
This is after turning on almost every option in Speed Optimizer by Siteground. Shouldn’t this plugin make my site faster instead of slower?

Do you have some conflicting plugins? Or having a site behind Cloudflare with their performance tuning? Turning on all options is almost always a bad idea since finding a perfect config is never that straight job.
Also, there is a possibility that the theme is not compatible with all options. An example I work with is that the Newspaper theme by tagDiv only works with WP Super Cache.
Try going back to default settings and experiment with different settings.
Cache and config management is an art. It’s never as easy as “turn on all the things”. There’s so many moving parts. But the place to start is to actually work through what the results say. What are the given culprits? Start there.
I never had any issue with SG SpeedOptimizer at SG sites. Do you host at SiteGround? Adjust Caching in SG Dashboard.
Anyhow, WPSuperCache+Debloat have proven to work with every theme and plugin I have used.
