Recently, I’ve had major problems with my hosting company, in so far as they took it upon themselves to wipe my DNS and Database, leaving me without anything in my file manager and no website. I have since moved hosting, but cannot just “import” my site as I do not have the “correct” backup type.
All I have on my computer is a copy of what was in the file manager. I have a new host and just want a simple way to upload it all and have my site back up and running. I know very little about WordPress, it seems instead of the files and folders, it should have been backed up a different way.
My friend built this site for me many years ago, without my knowing the slightest thing about WP, I have since been doing tiny tweaks here and there, to the layout, removing information and keeping things up to date.
Is there a VERY simple way to make these files and folders work as they did on my previous hosting with my new hosting? I know I will have to change some settings and login details, but I cannot for the life of me work out why once these changes are made and everything has been put onto my new host via the FTP, nothing at all is working and it just seems completely broken.
Any help you could provide would be gratefully received, I’m stuck and have been trying for over two weeks to figure it all out. It’s a three page site. So nothing exciting or interesting. It’s just a “holding” for my business that gives people an idea on how to contact me, rather than doing anything else.
Please be gentle with me, I am totally lost with WP and all its quirks.
