I’m porting our site away from Wix on ethical grounds, but am finding WordPress incredibly unintuitive in comparison.
For example: I have chosen a footer with a single line of text. I would like half of this text underneath the other. In Wix this is a matter of pressing enter. In WordPress, I press enter and it gives me two, markedly separate columns on the same line.

In the Header menu, I would like to narrow the size of the block (see image). Cannot find anywhere to do this. In Wix, you drag and release the frame of the asset.
I really want to like WordPress, but is it always this obtuse?

WordPress gives you a lot more control over your website, but it comes with a much steeper learning curve. The reason why platforms like Wix and Squarespace are so popular is because they appeal to the “I need to get this done quick and easy” demographic.
This footer example is just one small thing, you’re going to encounter stuff like this over and over again. If you want to commit to WordPress, spend some time reading and watching videos to learn how it works.
Page builder plugins like Elementor offer a happy middle ground and will be the most Wix-like option.
